Materials for the year - 1º & 2º Nivel Básico - Year 2009-2010

Hello everyone!!

These are the books we will be using this year in 1º and 2º NB:

1º NB - New English File Elementary, y Clive Oxenden and Christina Latham-Koenig. Oxford. (Student's book).

NOTE: The workbook is OPTIONAL. We won't be using it in class.

2º NB - New English File Pre-Intermediate, de Clive Oxenden & Christina Latham-Koenig.

NOTE: The workbook is OPTIONAL. We won't be using it in class.

REMEMBER: When you want extra practice on the contents of the book, you can check the NEW ENGLISH FILE WEBSITE on this blog (under the BBC logo.)

Recommended grammar book:

Essential Grammar in Use, by Raymond Murphy. There is an edition in Spanish and an edition in English.

If you have already chosen your group, remember that next week we have a brief introductory meeting about the course:

- If you have chosen a Monday/Wednesday group, your introductory meeting will be on Wednesday 16 at your class time.

- If you have chosen a Tueday/Thursday group, go and meet us on Tuesday 15 at your class time.

He's gone to Neverland...never to come back

Half the planet is in shock. As you may know by now, Michael Jackson, one of the icons of pop music in the world, died yesterday, on June 25, reportedly after suffering a cardiac arrest (=paro cardiaco). The causes of Jackson's death are still under investigation. The Peter Pan of music, controversial, eccentric, an outstading musician and dancer, no one could be indifferent to him. Whether you liked him or not, he was undoubtedly remarkable. So here's our litte tribute to him.

"Thriller", released in 1982, was Michael Jackson's sixth studio album and the best-selling album of all time. Here is a sample of it, the revolutionary video clip Thriller.
